We just had a problem with a Photoshop CS3 PDF file that was saved with the option for "fast web preview" checked. The PDF is clearly cmyk, and can be confirmed as such either in Acrobat or Photoshop. But with this fast web preview option, there is apparently some RGB data that goes along for the ride. Our RIP produces cmyk output that lacks any image at all in the black channel, as if the file were RGB. It is easy to fix by resaving the file and unchecking the web preview option, or converting the PDF to cmyk with PitStop or PDFColorConvert. But it would be nice if Preps should strip the RGB out of any PDF that has such a fast preview embedded in it.

Anyone else have this problem or know a passive solution that would solve this?
