View Full Version : Collating Marks position incorrect

First Form is set up as 4pg 4up head to foot, all heads facing up. The following forms are 16 page head to head.
On the 16 page forms the collating mark is working correctly.
On Form 1 the mark wants to start at the bottom of the mark, instead of the top of the mark the way I have it set.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks,
Linda Nivin

We have fixed a bug in Preps 5.3.2 where the step order of collation mark changes if your forms contains opposing head directions for your low page folio.
In your default.cfg change the following to YES, -SMARTCOLLATION_STEPFROMOFFSETORIGIN:YES

This new feature is available in Preps 5.3.2 and newer. You can find the upgrade on eCentral for free.
The default.cfg is found in your Preps application\Profiles\Default folder.

Thanks for the reply Monica.
I am still struggling:(
I've downloaded 5.3.2 and upgraded my install on a mac I can test with.
When I open
MacHD\Applications\Prinergy\AraxiPreps\Profiles\De fault\default.cfg
I'm seeing no text at all.
Would it be
MacHD\Applications\Prinergy\AraxiPreps\Profiles\Pr epsPrinergy\PrepsPrinergy.cfg
that needs amending?
I also installed Preps 6 beta into
MacHD\Applications\Prinergy beta\Preps 6.app
there's no way that v5 would be looking at
MacHD\Applications\Prinergy beta\Profiles\Default\default.cfg
is there?

So I try amending
MacHD\Applications\Prinergy\AraxiPreps\Profiles\Pr epsPrinergy\PrepsPrinergy.cfg
but it has no affect
I notice that when Preps is Running that this file is amended to a version that does not include the text (like 5.3.1?) when preps quits the text reverts back too (like 5.3.2?). I'm really confused now.
Do I need a minimum version of Prinergy to make this stick, Kodak installed 4.0.2.4.8 because we have a Panther Mac (10.3.9) as well as 3 Tigers and a Leopard.

It's recommended to use the same version of Preps on your client workstation as the Preps engine on your Prinergy server. With Prinergy 4.0, it has Preps version 5.3.1 (as installed into Applications\Kodak\Prinergy folder). This is the reason why you're not seeing the newer profiles as you will only have the v5.3.1 profiles on the Prinergy server.
You can upgrade to Prinergy 4.1 to get Preps version 5.3.2 OR install a standalone copy of Preps 5.3.2 (install this outside of the Applications\Kodak\Prinergy folder). If you are using the standalone copy, you will need to launch Preps from your Finder, not through Workshop, and print the job ticket into your Workshop job.
Please call your local response center and they should be able to walk you through this.

I'm now running Preps 5.3.3 and Prinergy powerpack 5.0.3.2
I'm still getting Collating marks in the wrong place when the head orientation changes. I've changed the line of text
-SMARTCOLLATION_STEPFROMOFFSETORIGIN:YES
in the file
MacHD\Applications\Prinergy\AraxiPreps\Profiles\Pr epsPrinergy\PrepsPrinergy.cfg
I'm not seeing this line of text in either of the files
Volumes/AraxiPreps/Profiles/PrepsPrinergy/PrepsPrinergy.cfg
Volumes/AraxiPreps/Profiles/PrepsPrinergy/PrepsPrinergy.cfg.template
any fresh help would be appreciated

I finally got this working as expected. Only taken me 2 years.
The trick was to change the step distance for Collation Mark's that step down or left relative to the sheet to a negative number, whilst leaving the Marks that step up or right relative to the sheet as a positive number.
Signastation always stepped relative to the Page, and I never guessed Preps would work to the Sheet orientation.
