Is charging to print lasers on electronically delivered files a common practice?
Example: A job comes in on Insite, the Job Planners need lasers to plan the job. Are many companies charging clients when PrePress needs to print Lasers?

If the customer doe snot ask for them and internally we need them, then we eat the cost. No way we can pass this onto the customer.

Our Planners use a combination of Kodak Geometry tools and Pitstop Professional to plan all their jobs. They also view the imposed VPS's just before releasing to plate. No need for lasers unless the customer orders them. They will, on occasion, print a page or so out if they need to check something not easily seen on the monitor. We don't charge for anything we have to print for ourselves.
