Preps 4 and Mac OS 10.4

Like a fool, I upgraded a Preps Mac with 10.4.x before finding out on eCentral that Preps 4.x is incompatible with 10.4. Everything appears to work fine until we go to print a JT for Prinergy. If Preps doesn't crash, we receive an error stating that Preps can't write to the Applications/Preps 4.2/Printers/Prinergy/log.txt file, and that it may be locked or in use. It then states that it's going to do its thing somewhere else. In both cases, a useable JT is made, but in both cases, it's also a hassle.

Kodak doesn't give a workaround for this other than to upgrade to Preps 5.1.x and a blue dongle, but on the surface it appears to be some sort of permissions issue. If that's really the case, then it should be do-able. We have a blue dongle and permissions on that log file match those on a 10.3 Preps Mac. Has anyone found a workaround for this or am I stuck having to roll this Mac back?

Preps 4.2 and OS X 10.4.x work. We write JTs all day with this combination.
We had the point that "Applications/Preps 4.2/Printers/Prinergy/log.txt" was getting to big. You can just delete this file, it just logs your output.

Have the error messages ceased or is that just something you deal with? If the messages have stopped then this would confirm my suspicion that Kodak's proposed solution (eCentral Knowledgebase article 67164) is simply to put more money in their pocket.

I don't remember the detailed error message, but I have in mind that these logfiles reached 128KB. As these logfiles only consist of

Addition: We use blue dongles (we have three licences) and Preps5 is in the cabinet.

Removing the log file solved the problem. Of course, Preps just created a new one in its place, but the error messages have stopped. Thanks for the tip.
