considering upgrading from 5.3.3
Lots of issues with Preps 5.3.3 running On Apogee Series 2. Starting with the fact that the system is OLD. The RIP is from around the yr 2000. We have A Mac G5 on OS X (10.4.11). It has 7 GB of DDR SDRAM. My designers are on G5's and send me eps's, tiff's, pdf's for the most part. Sometimes they through in word files from PC's.
They are using CS4 and we have worked out or around most problems. I still encounter tiling problems when I process pdf's. Flattenning the eps's helps but fonts are still giving us fits. We have several work-arounds but what I really need is information as to what advantage I would get upgrading to 6.0. Or do we also need to trash what we have. We still process film because we also do silk screening and because we have so many old files in the mix. Help!!!
