Default Variable Barcode Coupon Book?

I have a print order for 3500, 64pp, 3.625" x 5.25" coupon books. Half of the pages have 3 coupons with a different barcode printing on every coupon. I have an Excel file with the numeric codes for the barcodes. The job will print on a digital press as 4-16pp signatures on 12x18.

We print simple variable data using Indesign Data Merge and the Variable Data function in EFI Command Workstation. I've never been faced with a project like this. Surely it is easy with the proper tools and knowhow.

How are these types of projects created on the page level?
What are the proper tools needed for this type of VDP project?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Default Re: Variable Barcode Coupon Book?

I had the same question. I looked into a program called Chartbot. Never had to actually use it, though, as the job didn't materialize.
