Default 64 pg vertical shingling vs. bottling

We have a new Lithoman and we are beginning to run 64 page forms. I have experience with bottling and horizontal shingling, but have never used vertical shingling. Some operators/Management believe we need to vertical shingle. We are using Preps 7 with templates and not folding patterns. Just wondering anyone has experience/success with vertical shingling?

Hmmmm...why do they think you need vertical shingling? Just curious as I have never used it. I assume there is a good reason to use it?

They are under the impression that it will help align folio's, etc. due to paper "bulk". The research that I have done states vertical shingling is only supported by folding patterns, not templates. I have also done some testing with our impositions with vertical shingling does not seems to being applied consistently to help alignment. Additionally, I have noticed that there is no option for vertical shingling under the stock "Auto" features. Just wondering if any is using the vertical shingling with any success.

We use Preps 7.5 and apply creep or shingling by going to Job, then Layout Details (second from the top for me). A window comes down and you can add vertical or horizontal shingling (creep). I have never used the vertical before, but this might work.

I would think that the bottling would correct what appears to be a push down on the pages. I have never heard of anyone using vertical shingling but I guess it should work.
